Little Red Hen Part 2

Who will help harvest the wheat?

By: Cheryl Kollin

Who will help harvest the winter wheat that has been growing since last November?  Members young and old joined in to  cut the  top 6 inches of the wheat with sissors that was planted last fall. After cutting, we bundled the tops with twine. Garden maven, Fred Pinkney took the wheat home to dry and will return next Shabbat. We also harvested heads of garlic that were planted last November as individual cloves.

Join us on June 23rd at 1pm sharp. Meet on the porch outside the Social Hall for the threshing, winnowing, and grinding of the wheat from last week’s harvest.  No experience or tools  needed.  All ages welcome!

There will be a special prize to whoever comes closest to guessing the weight of the flour we grind.
